We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming webinar “A more collaborative form of governance? UK intergovernmental relations and the Council of Nations and Regions.” taking place on Tuesday, 13th May from 1pm to 2pm. During the event, the report authors will explore the publication of the first research project to examine the recently established Council of the Nations and Regions - the UK government’s new flagship intergovernmental initiative following a collaboration by PolicyWISE and the Bennett Institute for Public Policy at the University of Cambridge.

Join us to hear about the potential for improved relationships between the UK government, devolved governments, and English mayors through collaborative engagement.

You will hear from the authors, and have the chance to question them, on topics including:

•           Collective Governance – new ways of working across administrations,

•           Strategic Focus – The Council’s remit and how it enables policy learning and co-ordination,

•           The English Question – Who speaks for England, and how it’s represented,

•           Accountability – The role for parliaments and scrutiny.

The report discusses the need for a clearly defined purpose for the Council, the challenges of intergovernmental relations, and provides recommendations for its design and scope. The full report will be published in mid-May.

When: Tuesday 13th May, 13:00 – 14.00

Who: Professor Michael Kenny and Alex Walker (The Bennett Institute for Public Policy at the University of Cambridge) and Dewi Knight (PolicyWISE, The Open University), chaired by Catherine May (PolicyWISE, The Open University).
